- Our Client is a Mid-sized Int'l Freight Forwarder
Seeking an IMPORT AGENT for Air and Ocean Transportation side, not customs brokerage.
Knowledge of handling shipments from A-Z.
•Assist customers on the telephone and e-mail by acting as the central point of contact between the customer and all internal networks and departments.
•Enter air/ocean import shipment information into our system.
•Create air/ocean import file including checks, arrival notices, invoices, delivery orders and profit share reports.
•Communicate with customs house brokers and overseas agents regarding shipment details and problem resolution.
•Communicate with carriers to verify inbound arrival information and any pricing discrepancy issue.
•Update and forward customer shipment reports as required by customers.
•Arrange trucking to customer's warehouses as required by internal SOP's.
•Communicate with freight locations to verify shipment availability.
•Identify and resolve issues causing delays in air/ocean cargo movement.
•Update customer pricing and SOPs as necessary.
•Create and forward back up documentation for accounts payable for payments on appropriate A/P posted items.
•Review and notate shipment file number of trucker invoices. Approve invoices for payment to accounting department when ready.
Skills and Requirements:
•Minimum 2 to 5 years freight forwarding experience with knowledge of air and ocean imports.
•Good knowledge of international shipping procedures.
•Good knowledge of Port and Airport practices and procedures.
•Good math abilities and focus.
•PC skills proficiency.
•Good telephone manner and mature.
