Description
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for an opening in Long Beach, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Engineering definition of structural components and assemblies.
-Implementation of manufacturing tolerances per ASME 14.5, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
-Provide technical support to manufacturing personnel and other departments as appropriate on engineering model interpretation, specifications, and documents
-Create engineering BOM based on design and build configuration
-Participate in the engineering definition review, approval, and release processes
-Support review of manufacturing plans and procedures to ensure compliance with design requirements.
-Support the creation of structural test plans which will be used to verify manufacturing processes meet design intent and requirements.
-Investigate reports of defective, damaged, or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment, or systems to determine nature and scope of problem
-Help client do its part to make the world a better place
-Constantly learn new things-and share them with your team members

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
-10+ years engineering/design experience
-Proficiency with UG NX (company on v.11)
-Primary structural design experience using carbon/epoxy composites
-Experience with structural bonding and bolting
-Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
-Driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement
-Ability to add something unique and positive to our team
-A generally quite high level of all-around awesomeness

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
-Experience with air launched space launch vehicles
-Experience with model based definition practices
-Familiarity with passive and active thermal solutions
-Experience implementing passive vibratory environment mitigation
-Venting and purge system design
-Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space
-Ability to thrive as a 'one person team'

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:
-Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed
-Must be able to stand for extended periods - 8 hours minimum

EDUCATION:
-Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline
