Chipton-Ross is seeking a Composite Technician - Level 1 (8) for an opening in Los Alamitos, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibility will be the fabrication of client's composite/non-metal components and products.
Successful candidates will perform the following essential duties & responsibilities, which include but are not limited to:

-Will utilize blueprints and production planning instructions to perform marking, identification, trimming, cutting, drilling and assembly of composite/non-metal parts.
-Perform operations such as vacuum bagging/sealing, curing and trimming insulation materials, applying plastic impregnated fiberglass fabric and metal to semi-finished blankets, cutting materials to pattern, hand lay-up, wrapping insulation blankets on to ducting.
-Develop patterns for lay up to produce parts to specific and drawing requirements.
-Operate autoclaves, curing ovens, power vise, fabric dinking machine, Gerber Cutter, routers, hand/power tools and other machinery related to composite fabrication.
-Will work with materials such as honeycomb, coated fabrics, rubber, adhesives, cements, plastics and other materials related to composite fabrication.
-Will make void-free laminates and perform acceptable repairs to parts per blueprint specifications or planning requirements.
-Will make and perform tool setups as needed.
-Will perform material use calculation and accurate tracking for inventory record keeping.
-Will perform auxiliary operations such as handling/moving parts, tooling and materials, tool stripping, spray painting, steam cleaning and secondary wrapping operations.
-This job description is not all inclusive of all duties. Other duties may be assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
oWill be in the United Steelworkers' Union after 60-day probationary period; candidate must understand a union environment.
oMust be okay working OT - the off Fridays, and possible Saturday as well as any daily OT required.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:
oExperience with measuring tools:
oScales, rulers calipers (preferably dial)
oMicrometers.
o Other relevant measuring equipment used in a mfg. environment -
oBasic Experience with Blueprints -
oExperience with hand tools: screwdrivers, pliers, shears/scissors,
cutting knives, basic hand tools.
oExperience with power tools/equipment helpful (Sanders, grinders, drills, Gerber cutters.

-Other Tools: Experience with hand layup and wet layup of composite materials: carbon fiber, fiberglass, Honeycomb, Foam, Kevlar,


oAssembly of composite parts using blueprints, drawings, work orders, production planning, etc. -
oOther good/helpful exp.:
oLamination,
oWacuum bagging/debagging, curing oven operation,
autoclave operation.
oTrimming, cutting, deburring, drilling, other hand-intensive type assembly work -

EDUCATION:
Accredited High School Diploma/GED

WORK HOURS:
9/80, Full-Time
oMust be okay with 2nd shift hours, as candidate may start on 1st shift and be moved to 2nd.
