Chipton-Ross is seeking a Laser Controls Software Developer capable of supporting development of the High Energy Laser control systems, signal and image processing programs to join our Lasers and Advanced Sensors (LAS) Group located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Determine technical objectives for user requirements and specifications and plan for enterprise software development within the broader organizational scope. Software development encompasses end–user, system level, and data management applications.
•Support new business pursuits related to both airborne active and passive multi-spectral EO/IR sensors for surveillance and targeting, laser acoustic signal processing, 3D LIDAR image formation and mapping as wells as target recognition.
•Formulate plans and guides the development and implementation of software solutions including language, coding, platform, resource requirements, testing, and documentation.
•Contribute to the development of software system architecture.
•Responsible for supporting the development of High Energy Laser control systems that includes subsystem and segment interfaces, such as battle management, safety and fire control.
•Identify throughput, processing architecture, and I/O bandwidth needs.
•Develop and implement algorithms on state of the art processing architectures including GPGPU systems.
•Support field tests.
•May function in a leadership role for a project and/or program and provide direction and guidance to less experienced developers or team of developers.
•Represent GA-EMS to both internal and external customers on technical approach and schedule.
•Provide technical documentation on design as well as performance analyses.
•Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in computer science, information systems or related discipline and progressive software development experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education. Must have a thorough understanding of software development concepts, principles, and theory and demonstrate a thorough understanding and application of programming and analysis concepts. Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment. Ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases and determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems. Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more software development area; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects. Able to work extended hours as required.

May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education. Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance is required.
Must have experience developing software in an embedded environment utilizing extensive knowledge of C and C++.
Must have demonstrated knowledge of embedded hardware and software.
In-depth knowledge of VxWorks and Linux is required.
Must have an extensive expertise of software development concepts, principles, and theory and demonstrate extensive technical expertise and application of programming and analysis concepts.
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced software development problems. Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
Able to work extended hours as required.
