Description
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for an opening in Minneapolis, MN.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead process Improvement Initiatives and facilitate best practices across the BU factories.
Ensure successful interface with R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Sales to ensure the delivery of high quality product within schedule and cost requirements.
Provide expeditious support to production activities and to resolve manufacturing hold-ups.
Ensure pro-active measures are implemented to prevent manufacturing holdup reoccurrence. Ensure that sufficient root cause corrective action has been taken to prevent reoccurrence.
Provide leadership in LEAN manufacturing practices. Research and implement lean tools such as 5S, Standard Work, Cell design, Kaizen Blitz and Value Stream Mapping.
Participate in supplier qualifications/audits and interface with them on quality performance.
Develop and implement programs for improving supplier quality in conjunction with engineering and supply chain.
Lead the supplier non-conforming materials process (rework, return, scrap, etc.). Coordinate root cause analysis and disposition decisions
Support the Incoming Inspection process to ensure non-conforming parts are checked pro-actively before being received again.
Support the first article process to ensure new components or newly sourced components are fit form and function and of the highest quality for production.
Manage the ECO (Engineering Change Order) process relating to Operations. Facilitate implementation of product/process improvements submitted within operations.
Ensure processes and products are compliant to the appropriate 3rd party certifications. Conduct on-going process audits to validate compliance.
Work with engineering and the quality manager to ensure products and processes meet US and EU directives and regulatory agency requirements.
Participate in the R&D process and provide guidance on Design for Manufacturability/Assembly. Be the main Operations resource in the stage gate process.
Ensure Assembly/Manufacturing procedures are regularly audited & updated.
Coordinate product and manufacturing knowledge transfers between factories as needed.
Establish accurate manufacturing costs, assist R&D in cost estimation and initiate cost reduction activities on existing product.
Conduct cost analysis on current products and processes to determine improvement opportunities. Perform make vs. buy analysis and participate in setting overall manufacturing strategy.
Develop and/or maintain metrics to support the above initiatives.
Project management and other tasks as assigned

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Formal training in Lean, 6-Sigma or other process improvement methodology
Formal training in Lean, 6-Sigma or other process improvement methodology
Experience in all aspects of ISO and Regulatory Approvals.
Experience in component manufacturing or assembly operations.
Strong people and interaction skills
Strong analytical mind for root cause, design and cost analysis
DFM (Design For Manufacturability) training and practical experience
Statistical Process Control
<15% travel

EDUCATION:
Accredited 4-yr degree in a technical discipline
