Senior Software Engineer
Location El Segundo California United States

Client Satellite Division in El Segundo is seeking Senior Software Engineers, passionate about space and excited to work in a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment to design, develop and implement control and communications software for a new fleet of Client satellites.

oResponsible for full life-cycle development including requirements analysis, software architecture, designs, coding, unit test, integration and formal qualification.
oExperience in analyzing system requirements and decomposing them to software requirements.
oAbility to take requirements and define a software system architecture.
oCandidate should possess excellent communications skills to participate in requirements, design and code reviews, have a thorough understanding of version control and software quality attributes, such as testability, portability and maintainability, and enjoy a self-driven and collaborative development approach.
oCandidate should possess excellent communications skills and works well in a team environment.
oMust be able to interact well with System Engineers/Analyst as well other members of the Integrated Product Team.
oExcellent oral and written communication skills and experience in presenting at program major reviews as well as lead the technical contents of all software technical documents.
oFamiliarity with formal development process and current software engineering topics is highly desired.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
oExperience decomposing system/subsystem requirements into software requirements
oExperience in software architecture and design of complex embedded software systems.
oExperience leading a team of software engineers using agile development process
o5+ years' experience using DOORs and UML software modelling tools
o7+ years of hands-on experience in object oriented design, C/C++ implementation and test.
o15+ years of direct experience designing and developing software for a real time or non real-time system.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
oExperience working with system/subsystem engineers
oExperience working with external software suppliers
oExperience integrating large scale software systems.
oExperience with avionics control algorithms, hardware interfaces and I/O device drivers, networking, SQL and non-relational databases, web-based development.
oExperience working in a classified environment and compliant with TOR standards.
oExperience in Java, C#, JavaScript, Python and TCL a plus.
oEmbedded/real-time OS (e.g. VxWorks) experience a plus.
oUML modeling, test-driven development, agile process and DevOps tools experience desired.
oFamiliarity with real-time embedded software development that includes requirements analysis through Formal Qualification.
oExperience with Linux/Unix operating system, software development for math intensive algorithms, integration of COTS software, UML or other modeling language, SQL DB, DOORs, or ClearCase a major plus.
oPrior avionics and payload software development experience is a plus.
oFamiliarity with formal development process and current software engineering topics is highly desired.

Accredited Bachelor's degree with 14 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Full-Time/First Shift
8 AM - 5 PM

Travel Required - Yes, 10 % of the Time
