Chipton-Ross is seeking 2 Senior Liaison Engineers 4's for a contract opportunity in Portland, OR.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
-Mechanical Engineering or Aero Engineering degree.
-Previous Boeing experience specific the Liaison Engineering with current or former engineering Material Review Board (MRB) authority.
-Must have MRB in engineering role with 5+ years' experience.
o 10 or more years of experience in structures, systems, design, or production engineering (Senior- Level).
o 10 or more years of experience in prior Materiel Review Board.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking Senior Liaison Engineers to support the Portland, Oregon site. We are looking for a proactive individual who can make prompt engineering decisions and who want to go beyond their desk and into the factory for hands on engineering.
This position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills as the candidate will be partnering closely with production personnel. The candidate will be the engineering representative on the factory floor transforming design into reality.

o Analyzes, conducts root cause analysis and develops dispositions for production non-conformances.
o Applies knowledge of Client design principles to assess and resolve product/process issues through the product lifecycle.
o Applies engineering principles to research technical, operational and quality issues in support of executing final engineering solutions.
o Identifies documents, analyzes reported problems and communicates deviations that could impact design intent and safety; recommends and manages resolution.
o Develops and implements product/process improvements.
o Supports Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participates in design reviews.
o Represents the engineering community from initial build through the production and post-production environment.
o Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with Client standards.
o Develops customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
o Participates in on-site disabled product repair teams, accident investigation and support teams.
o Analyzes damage repair or structural modification to determine appropriate jacking and shoring, prevent collateral damage and assure a safe work environment.
o Designs interim structural repairs and conducts static strength analysis.
o Develops non-destructive test procedures, tools and standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
Liaison engineers that have experience across the following, will be looked for:
o Understanding for materials
o Material types - steel, aluminum, titanium - strength/capabilities
o Material forms - bar stock, forgings, castings and reactions to machining
o Post machining processing
o Understanding machining and machining limitations
o Geometry and sequencing for material removal (multiple pass, speed and feed of cutter)
o Machine practices - machining, broaching, honing, etc.
o Load path analysis for complex, integrated shapes - thin walls, undercuts, mismatches
o Surface condition and prep - discoloration, burns, drill/cutter breaks (FOD)
o Understanding of machined part dimensions and tolerance (GD&T)
o GD&T - True position, parallel surface, bonus tolerance, etc. - used heavily (GD&T training 77100 Course - minimum)
o Interpret drawing datums, surfaces, profiles for tolerancing
o Examples - requirements between gear/shaft fit up into housings, fit up of housing sections (base and cover)
o Spatial Analyzer analysis/modeling of discrepant conditions
o Metrology - methods, limitations, and interpretation
o Understanding of gears/shafts and gear interaction
o Gear table understanding
o Details - Teeth/spline profiles, runout, measurement over wires
o Install - gear patterns, gear engagement, bearing/shaft fit
o Understanding of material processing
o Heat treat, induction hardening, stress relief
o Shot and glass peening, abrasive blast cleaning, etching
o Plating - cad, chrome, Zi-Ni
o Finishing - anodize, passivate, primer and paint sequence
o Understanding functional test requirements
o Diagnosing impacts to operation and performance at the airplane level
o Range of FT acceptance - RPM, Torque, gaps/clearance
o Understanding of general repair for machined parts
o -M bushings, heli-coils, and inserts on oversized bores and holes
o Blending on machined materials, re-processing, re-finishing requirements
o Corrosion protection post processing rework - seal and primer requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to work in shop environment, loud noises, vapors (EHS protected). This position involves daily exposure to factory environment which includes stairs, trip hazards, high noise areas, chemical hazards (breathing and handling), and entering airplanes during their many stages of build.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

WORK HOURS: MUST BE OPEN TO WORKING 1st, 2nd or 3rd SHIFT as well as weekend or daily overtime. This requirement varies from site to site and is typically covered on a rotation basis. This position is for multiple shifts and may require off shift, weekend, and travel assignments.
