- Chipton-Ross is seeking an Engine Design Technician located in Bingen, WA
Performs engine testing to include performance testing, combustion measurement, engine calibration, fuel consumption measurement, temperature measurement, durability testing, environmental/altitude testing and component strength testing. Gathers and summarizes test data. Fabricates test specimens and fixtures. Modifies engines, components and the associated test equipment. Performs engine disassembly, diagnostics and troubleshooting. Conducts root cause of failure analysis and makes design recommendations. Maintains/repairs laboratory and testing equipment. Drafts and/or contributes to the development of engine assembly, testing, operation and maintenance procedures. Provides ad hoc field technical support and troubleshoots/repairs fielded equipment. Dispositions or elevates maintenance and operational exception requests.
Primary duties & responsibilities of this job is to support and assist Engineering team by performing engine testing, combustion measurement, engine calibration, fuel consumption measurement, temperature measurement, durability testing, environmental/altitude testing and component strength testing. Assist Engineers with design changes, system testing, data collection, and document preparation for continuous product improvement and development. Develop, write, review and edit technical work instructions, AS9100 Quality documentations and procedures to illustrate and standardize system processes.
Knowledge of and previous experience troubleshooting and repairing 2-stroke engines strongly preferred.
Knowledge of machines and tools, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
Knowledge of AS9100 requirements.
Experience with, and working knowledge of, the effects of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) on electromechanical and electronics systems, and associated precautionary practices.
Ability to lift 50 lb loads repeatedly during a working day.
Accredited High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of related experience.
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
