Operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment such as steam generators and steam turbines, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, air compressors, turbo blowers, electric motors, diesel generators, pumps, heaters, and boilers to provide utilities such as light, heat, or power for buildings and industrial processes. Inspects equipment and performs preventive maintenance measures and routine operational adjustments such as lubricating and cleaning filters, motors, and other equipment. Records data such as temperatures, pressures, water levels, and voltage and makes any necessary adjustments. Other typical job titles include Stationary Engineer and Operating Engineer.
Knowledge: Considerable knowledge of the job. Substantial acquaintance with and understanding of general aspects of the job with a broad understanding of the detailed aspects of the job.
Supervision Given and Received: Direct supervision and instructions given for routine work and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments. High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years' related experience.
Must have D2 and T2 water license.
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
School must be accredited.
9/80 workweek. Must be flexible to work any shift.
