Chipton-Ross is seeking an Information Systems Project Manager 2- Scrum Master for an opportunity in Newport News, VA.

As an agile practitioner, you will be a shepherd of the Agile tenants, removing impediments and promoting transparency. This position requires commitment to exceptional results, a strong desire for continuous improvement and the ability to build a collaborative culture within our team and organization. You will facilitate team events and ensure the integrity of the agile process, remove obstacles for the teams and work towards a high-performance culture. In this highly visible role, you will have significant interaction with product owners and regular contact with all levels of management.
In order to perform this role successfully, we think you will need to serve three groups:
Duties to your teams:
Organize and facilitate Scrum/Kanban team events.
Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving.
Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of making people awesome, experimenting and learning rapidly, making safety a prerequisite, and delivering value continuously.
Proactively resolve or escalate blocking impediments as necessary.
Teach/coach/mentor the team on how to use Agile, especially user story creation/prioritization, estimation and product backlog grooming via emergent design while supporting overall organizational goals.
Shield your team from unplanned work.
Ensure development team is working efficiently towards Sprint goals.
Duties to your Product Owners:
Work collaboratively with Product Owners and cross-functional development teams on their Agile journey to support development and software delivery.
Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to refining (aka grooming) and managing the product backlog and team roadmaps.
Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
Duties to the organization:
Work with management on effective team design.
Coordinate dependencies between teams with other Agile practitioners.
Ensure your team works in accordance with their own processes and definitions of ready and done.
Assess the Scrum Maturity of your teams and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
Work with other Agile Practitioners to recommend improvements and assist in changes to best practice.
Leads and directs one or more project teams engaged in the design, implementation and modification of IT projects that span across functional organizations.
Prepares project execution plan and identifies appropriate technical and business resources needed for the team.
Ensures projects are completed on schedule, within budget and meets technical requirements of the assignment. Keeps current on advances in the field of IT.
Provides technical and analytical guidance to project team.
Standard PPE: hard hat, steel toes, safety glasses, hearing protection.

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant experience. Master's Degree and 0 years of experience. 4 years (total of 6 years) of related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree. A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.
To perform these activities successfully, we expect to see, at a minimum, the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Information Systems or Engineering; or equivalent work experience
First level Scrum Master certification (PSM I, CSM).
Experience playing the Scrum Master role for a Scrum Team.
Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques (for example, User Stories, Continuous Integration, Pairing/Mobbing/Swarming, Automated Testing, Agile Games, etc.).
Thorough understanding of the Agile Manifesto.
Excellent team player with the ability to influence and negotiate.
Highly adaptable to changing environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
Must have situational awareness with an understanding of when to listen and when to be assertive.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail.
The following qualifications, while not necessarily required, could set you apart:
Second or Third level Scrum Master certification (PSM II, PSM III, CSP, CTC).
Experience playing the Scrum Master role for over three years for a Scrum team.
Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc.).
Track record of continued and recent education in Scrum, including training, conferences, user groups, self study, etc.
Knowledge of scaling approaches discussed in the Agile space: LeSS, SAFe, etc.
Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.
Experience using Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
Experience applying a wide variety of well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.).

High School, Bachelor's, or Master's degree is required. See required experience for equivalency.
School must be accredited.

7:30AM to 4PM

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
