Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Director of General Manufacturing to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA. You will lead, manage and integrate product delivery and support organizations into an effective high performance team.
In coordination with IPT leadership, functional management and shared services, this role ensures that Program operations and facilities have the capabilities, processes and resources required to meet current and future needs.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
The on-time delivery of high quality products and services that meet all contractual requirements and business objectives.
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment utilizing and improving established factory accountability processes.
Providing leadership that fosters an inclusive, motivated and engaged work culture.
Managing direct/indirect budgets and capital asset expenditures.
Driving the continuous improvement of people (to include training & development), products, processes, systems and services through the application of innovative technologies, lean principles, six-sigma projects, common best practices and other appropriate tools and techniques.
Staffing, cost, schedule and quality performance.
Managing concurrent design and build activities.
Communications with various executive level leaders, internal workforce and external customers.
Finally, the selected candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and complex manufacturing processes in collaborative/team settings across all levels of the organization.
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree required.
At least 9 years of manufacturing experience.
Proven experience leading a large touch labor workforce in an integrated product team environment.
Strong understanding assembly processes; crew-cycling, staffing, skill mix and constraint management.
Must possess an extensive knowledge of composite fabrication, product development, (EMD) engineering & manufacturing development and production build experience.
Cost Account Management (CAM) & (EAC) estimate at completion development.
Ability to mitigate complex producibility challenges.
Ability to develop and implement process improvements initiatives.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
Must exhibit strong leadership characteristics.
Experience with EVMS (Earn Value Management System).
Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes.
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree or STEM degree is preferred.
School must be accredited.
