Chipton-Ross is seeking a Machinist for an opportunity in Huntington Beach, CA

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists and supports co-workers and performs fabrication operations to mass-produce products such as galleys, closets, VCC's, E-Bays, etc. for commercial transportation; assists and supports co-workers engaged in fabrication of parts. Program, sets up and/or operate CNC, NC, conventional, manual, special purpose machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts as required.
Promotes cooperation and positive communication with co-workers.
Assists & supports co-workers to complete preparation of fabricated parts for inspection.
Supports safety regulations in order to comply with OSHA and Driessen requirements.
Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings.
Studies engineering drawings, manuals, or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished material, sequence of operations, and set-up requirements.
Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or stock as guides for subsequent machining.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media, as required.
Assists in keeping production parts organized and labeled in the work area.
Ensures that production units from their department are inspected, and discrepancies corrected prior to sending the units out of the department.
Identifies completed parts with a part number and revision level.
Lifts, positions, and removes production units from machines or assembly area.
Loads, stacks, and transports stock, tools, dies, and work in process by hand or hand truck.
Prepares damaged or scrap material for quality assurance disposition
Picks up and trucks scrap from work areas.
Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
Performs and records all preventive maintenance on machines.
Prepares and organizes tools and parts for use in the fabrication area.
Verifies unit dimensions before releasing them from the department.
Ensures the cutting and fitting, of aluminum to shape per Engineering Drawing.
Operate CNC, NC, conventional, manual, and/or special purpose machines (chop saws, lathes, punch presses, brakes) to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts to specifications determined by engineering drawings and work order as required.
Program CNC, NC machines (Mills, Punch Press) as required.
Lays out hole locations.
Drills and taps holes on parts for fabrication.
Removes high spots and smoothes surfaces.
Verifies alignment and tolerances of parts.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Must have a sensitivity to safety regulations and requirements.

Must be able to interpret engineering drawings.
Must be able to use measuring equipment such as tape measures and calipers.
Must be able to self-inspect personal work and correct discrepancies in a timely manner.
Must be able to effectively control and operate various hand tools and fabrication machines.
Must demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in interpreting Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Removes all scuff-marks and scratches from aluminum.
Cleans and prepare surfaces for final inspection.
Understands processes in SPS manual.
Prepares and organizes tools and parts for use in the manufacturing area.
Follows-up and completes work on inspection non-conformities in a timely manner.
Must meet or exceed current training requirements.
Must be willing to be available to assist in other areas of the company, as directed by manager.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to understand documents such as engineering drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to communicate effectively with Driessen employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Must know how to measure angles.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to define and solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

EDUCATION:
Accredited High School Diploma/GED
Certificate in machining from college or technical school. Training in set-up and operation of CNC, NC vertical and horizontal mills, hand mills and lathes. Minimum of one (1) year experience working as a machinist utilizing machines related or similar to those at Driessen.

WORK HOURS:
Full-Time/First Shift

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
