Chipton-Ross is seeking a Backup Recovery Systems Administrator for an opportunity in Eagan, MN.
Northrop Grumman is seeking Backup Recovery Systems Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Eagan, MN. This is an on-site position with no telecommute possibilities. This position is part of the Northrop Grumman's ETS Contract with the United States Postal Service, bringing top of the line professional technologists to their teams.
Roles and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
o The Storage Backup and Recovery Administrator performs daily operations in a Dell EMC Avamar and Dell EMC Data Domain environment to backup, recover and archive USPS information and requires interaction with other USPS organizations and individuals to identify incidents, diagnose and resolve problems, and assist with storage usage and features.
o Must carry a pager and be on call. May be required to support different shifts to enable weekend support.
o This position is dedicated to the ECS DMS Data protection team to perform all activities associated with managing, supporting and troubleshooting backup, recovery and archiving in a large, complex and widely distributed environment.
o Perform daily monitoring and management of the backup solution implemented within the USPS infrastructure.
o Monitor backup jobs, execute restore jobs, troubleshoot failed jobs, and initiate corrective action.
o Provide status and progress reports for backup environment related activities and tasks,
o Perform reliable, secure backup and recovery across the enterprise in accordance with USPS and DMS policy and procedures.
o Perform diagnosis, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of Avamar and Data Domain solutions currently installed within the USPS infrastructure; provide technical expertise to resolve escalated issues; maintain archives in accordance with USPS and DMS policy and procedures; perform planning, testing, implementing and deploying new backup products and maintaining existing solutions, e.g., upgrading and patching.
o Ensure environment and software compatibility of Avamar and Data Domain solutions to be installed, implemented, and integrated with the existing environment.
o Provide action items and next steps for backup solutions projects.
o Identify and manage support issues; coordinate communications between various USPS operations groups and Dell EMC customer support staff to resolve complex issues.
o Create and update documentation for backup procedures, solutions, licensing and applicable project artifacts.
o Provide technical expertise through discussions and demonstrations,
o Provide periodic, informal, on-site knowledge transfer, as needed to other Data Protection group members and to designated USPS employees covering the management, normal operation, and maintenance of the backup infrastructure.
o Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience .9 years (relevant experience) in lieu of degree will be considered.
o Minimum three years recent experience with Dell EMC Avamar backup and recovery product in a large, complex environment.
o Minimum three years recent experience with Dell EMC Data Domain backup and recovery products in a large, complex environment.
o Ability to monitor 15,000+ backup clients and 1000+ jobs daily including, identifying issues and taking corrective action.
o Strong working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
o Good working knowledge of Oracle and SQL database backups.
o Strong proven troubleshooting abilities in a large scale operational environment.
o Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
o Solid experience with Dell EMC Avamar including SQL Plugin and VMWare proxy backups.
o Solid experience with Dell EMC Data Domain including: DDOS, DDBoost, DDMC.
o Recent experience with Dell EMC Networker.
o Experience with Dell EMC Data Protection Advisor (DPA).
o Familiarity with Oracle Databases using RMAN and DDBoost.
o Solid understanding of Ethernet Networking.
o Solid experience with NFS and Storage Area Networking (SAN).
o Scripting knowledge including Bash shell. PERL and Python.
o Experience using Microsoft Visio.
o Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint.
o Familiarity with Service Now Ticketing system.
o Familiarity with VMWare functionality.
Bachelor's degree is required. 9 years (relevant experience) in lieu of degree will be considered.
School must be accredited.
