- Chipton-Ross is seeking a Weld Engineer for an opening in Tupelo, MS.
Review Design DWGs for correct weld symbol and Code application requirements.
Develops weld maps for hardware
Leads weld qualification activities such as, Procedure Qualification Record (PQR), Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), Welding Procedure Qualification Record (WPQR).
Review and approve Supplier weld documentation.
Resolve issues and nonconformances related to welding discrepancies.
Perform on site audits at suppliers to control weld quality on Client hardware.
Perform weld process training for Client welders and other functions in the business such as procurement, Quality Assurance, and designers.
Establish control plans/processes for welding operations.
Supports operation of engineering systems by evaluating and interpreting needs and problems and develops effective approaches to resolving those issues.
Troubleshoots, analyzes, and repairs systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.
Develops statements of work (SOW) and coordinates with external vendors, such as weld integrators, to establish new capabilities or expand capacity.
Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.
Directs the activities of designers, technicians and may direct the activities of less experienced professional staff.
May represent the organization in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
Able to work extended hours as required.
A Professional Engineering License is desirable.
Experience in a Naval shipyard is highly preferred.
Experience with SAP and is a plus.
Must possess a strong level of expertise of NAVSEA S9074-AQ-GIB-010-248, NAVSEA S9074-AR-GIB-010 278, NAVSEA T9074-AD-GIB-010-1688, and MIL-STD-1689.
Certifications in Lean Six Sigma and American Welding Society (AWS) are desired.
Bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
