Chipton-Ross is seeking a Model Shop Supervisor for an opening in Ayer, MA.

The Model Shop Supervisor is responsible for the daily execution of high quality, on-time work in the Machine Shop and Fabrication area through direct supervision of the group lead. This position supervises daily/weekly output against backlog requirements based on material & capacity availability, and proactively identifies and resolves potential bottlenecks, taking action with model shop resources. The Model Shop Supervisor is responsible for ordering all required material and using our ERP system open work orders based on system requirements. The Model Shop Supervisor is responsible for achieving the production plan, meeting Quality goals and on-time delivery dates while maintaining a safe workplace. This position has direct reports.
•Maintain consistent workflow and on-time delivery across the Ayer site Model Shop (Fabrication and Machine shop)
•Review MRP output to schedule work, plan and open manufacturing orders in support of internal schedules and customer objectives while maintaining both quality and cost performance objectives.
•Review MRP output to contact suppliers to quote raw metal and other materials, then open PO’s and expedite those PO’s in support of the customer requirements
•Supervising and facilitating resources to maintain on-time schedules by fully understanding backlog and proactively identifying risks and opportunities
•Monitoring reports (backlog, material shortage, etc.) to direct production resources to maintain on-time delivery schedule and notify Production Manager, Supply Chain, and others of any discrepancies, schedule issues, or errors in a proactive manner.
•Maintaining and improving Lean flow lines to meet customer and business commitments
•Ensuring safe work practices are used at all times and maintain accountability for daily department 5s procedures
•Identify and support continuous improvement activities in Model Shop
•Assuring all transactions and procedures are accurate and timely to maintain proper labor and material accounting
•Assisting with training and coaching of department employees
•In conjunction with HR and the Production Manager, perform employee evaluations, reviews, and disciplinary actions
•Maintaining employee cross-training program and develop backup resources so that the department has a flexible workforce capable of meeting changing customer demand
•Monitoring attendance & overtime and assist keeping staffing levels at capacity
•Understanding and support Client policies, being an example of leadership to other in the department
•Leading the expediting of problem fixes (late material, change orders issues, documentation issues, etc.) with the appropriate resource areas in a proactive manner in order to stay on schedule and meet customer OTD commitments
•Creating and maintain a positive and engaged working department that values safety, improvement, participation, quality, and achieving goals, visibly recognizing individuals for achievement and coaching individuals to succeed.

Must have prior machine shop lead or supervisory experience
•Computer skills Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
•Experience in MRP/ERP, Shop Floor Control, Inventory Control, Bill of Materials and associated system applications
•Demonstrated leadership by example
•Experience with implementation of new production techniques, methods and/or procedures
•Ability and desire to build a team and motivate the workforce
•Ability and initiative to develop and implement departmental procedures and processes
•Strong problem solving skills
•Skills in conflict resolution
•Good organizational skills
•Good written and oral communications skills
•Must be able to exhibit a positive attitude and communicate clearly and effectively
•Must be able to obtain a security clearance, if required
•5 yrs. or more experience in Machine Shop/Fabrication environment
•3 yrs. or more direct supervision experience
•Experience in Lean Manufacturing preferred

Accredited High School Diploma/GED, College Degree is a plus

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
