- Chipton-Ross is seeking a Biotech Operations Intern for an opening in Austin, TX
Operations team is responsible for the production and testing of various reagents for qPCR and sample preparation applications including master mixes, nucleic acid purification, and internal positive controls for use in various workflows such as veterinary diagnostics, USDA-certified, FDS-certified, and custom products. Our team is dynamic and fast paced, relying on teamwork, multitasking and communication within the team and the larger organization. We are seeking an energetic individual with strong communication skills, positive attitude, and technical understanding of biochemical techniques.
Biotech Intern will perform a variety of functions within a laboratory setting, including one or more of the following.
Responsibilities include packaging life science products following the appropriate documentation. Staging raw materials; and supporting the department wherever assistance is needed. Knows and follow all job specific document control, product/kit storage and product/kit transfer procedures. Can set up and use any counting or weigh scale.
Operate an assortment of semi-automated and manual filling equipment, including pipettors.
Formulate buffers and other reagents for biotech applications at 2L to 2KL scale in clean manufacturing environment Isolate and dilute nucleic acids in manufacturing environment, including RNA and DNA, using pipetting and spectrophotometric techniques.
Work synergistically with peers from your own and other groups. Adhere to ISO guidelines, USDA regulations, and our client's quality policy. Adopt a positive attitude which contributes to a healthy work environment. Ability to work with chemicals. Majority of responsibilities take place within a clean manufacturing environment with PPE including safety glasses and gloves. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand/walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Other duties as assigned.
Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to wear personal protective equipment when required.
Ideal candidate is college student within one year of obtaining Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) in Biochemistry or related field. Graduate student status is a plus.
Accredited High School Diploma/GED
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
