- Chipton-Ross is seeking a Technical Application Specialist II for an opening in Marietta, OH.
The Software Engineer will collaborate closely with the corporate digital design team. This team is working to transform from classical training and support programs to state of the art digital transformation using primarily Virtual and Augmented Reality technology. They will assure proper support to and assist in streamlining structure around the adoption of the VR and AR technology. This is a great opportunity for a talented individual to develop and deploy VR and AR applications into advanced standard operating procedures, job aides and training materials.
The Software Engineer will work directly under the Manager for Training and Development for VR/AR and will create architectures and programs using real time game engines and interactivity tools. Your primary responsibilities will be to implement game functionality translating design ideas, concepts, and requirements into a functional and engaging game across VR, AR, MR or App based platforms. A wide degree of creativity and self-motivation is expected. Travel up to 40% or as required.
Work in cooperation with the learning and development teams, subject matter experts, artists, animators and engineers to create, implement, polish, debug and optimize high quality interactive animated experiences and systems. Design, build, and maintain clean, efficient, reusable and reliable code. Knowledge of data structures and algorithms. Demonstrate and apply strong problem-solving and debugging skills. Adapt to multiple platforms and environments: VR, AR, MR, Touch Displays, WebGL, etc. Translate and implement user specifications into game functionality per communicated design needs. Work closely with Management and other team members as required to perform gap analysis and develop optimized road maps to support strategic initiatives. Participate in evaluation and recommendation of third-party products for future game design and development implementation. Provide support to the teams who re-use the developed technologies. Communicate with project managers and stakeholders regarding the status of projects. Effectively collaborate with other remote and local team members as required.
Excellent knowledge of Unity or Unreal, including experience with scripting, textures, animation, GUI styles, and user session management. (Unity Preferred) Experience with game physics, game design, game programming, and user experience design. Experience with mobile and console game development. Proficient in 2D and 3D math and a solid understanding of CS fields including data structures, algorithms, threading, networking, and operating systems. Familiarity with gamification, level design, and planning. Experience with VR/AR is a plus. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team. Solid planning, organizational and multi-tasking skills. Work collaboratively with others. Able to work in fast-paced and dynamic environment comfortably. Able to travel up to 40%. Familiarity with version control software. Clean coding habits with a focus on documentation, commenting, and human readability.
Accredited BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field. In lieu of 4 year degree in computer science or game design must have 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
