Niche Diagnostics within the Clinical Diagnostics Division of our client is seeking a highly motivated, innovative and experienced scientist to join the Hybridoma/ Recombinant Antibody Development team at Research and Development Department, Fremont, California.

This is a hands-on bench scientist position, responsible for development of new antibody products for small molecules to support the creation of new in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) immunoassay products. The antibody development team is seeking a motivated candidate to contribute towards our ongoing efforts for development of monoclonal antibodies using hybridoma/ B cell technologies. The successful candidate shall have hands-on experience in routine laboratory techniques including cell culture, immunological assays and willing to work with laboratory animals (mice and rats) and learn in vivo animal techniques required for antibody development. Strong documentation skills, demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data to draw conclusions and make recommendations and teamwork skills.

Contribute to the development of monoclonal antibodies for development of In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) products for drug of abuse testing. Design and execute antibody discovery campaign including optimally targeted immunization strategies, hybridoma and or B cell approaches and antibody screening to generate a diverse panel of antibodies. Willing to learn and contribute to in vivo animal handling, various routes of injections and ascites production. Collaborative with scientists from Organic Chemistry, Toxicology and Assay Development team to identify small molecule candidates to achieve program goals. Characterize and screen new antibodies for performance in new immunoassay products. Support Staff Scientist in Cell culture, antibody generation and screening of hybridoma clones, sub cloning positive clones to maintain monoclonality. Working knowledge of immunological methods such as ELISA, functional assays and antibody isotyping. Working knowledge of antibody purification by Protein A/G columns preferred. Review experimental results to confirm data accuracy, perform data analysis and make recommendations based on those results. Perform other responsibilities to support the needs of the department as assigned. Maintain a constant focus on safety in the lab and within the site.

Hands-on lab skills and experience is required with a strong desire to learn new techniques and methods. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Ability to work constructively on a team is required. Good organization and time management skills are required. Strong preference will be given to those candidates having hands-on lab-based experience in cell culture and immunoassay techniques. Knowledge and hands-on experience or willing to learn in vivo animal handling is preferred.

Accredited B.S or M.S in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or other related life science discipline with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant Industrial/ academic research experience. PhD in above disciplines with 3+ years of experience.

Day Shift: M-F, 8-5 / 40 hrs week

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
