- Chipton-Ross is seeking a Scientist III for an opening in Frederick, MD.
Develop and maintain a variety of genetically modified suspension cell lines aimed at protein and viral vector production for clinical applications. Characterize culture system performance using techniques including flow cytometry, ELISA and related techniques (BLI), gene expression assays (qPCR/ddPCR) Novel assay development as required. Meticulously track, compile and report results in a digital format to support GMP documentation and protect intellectual property in accordance with relevant client standards. Perform duties independently with only general direction given. nteract closely with other internal departments (i.e., Marketing, Business Development, Quality, Operations and/or Technical Services) in the commercialization of new products and troubleshooting of existing processes.
Must have experience with the culture and transfection of mammalian suspension cells, especially production systems aimed at recombinant protein and viral vector production. Must have the ability to maintain meticulous records of work performed and report on a regular basis. Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interpret, summarize, and present scientific results in a clear, concise, accurate manner to both technical and non technical audiences. Must possess demonstrated ability to design and conduct research independently. Experience in characterization of cell culture performance. Demonstrated ability to generate new ideas, achieve results and solve problems. Excellent organizational , time management and multi-tasking skills. Must be proficient using MS Excel, PowerPoint and Wordl. Able to mentor junior scientists.
Experience with GMP cell line development. Experience with performing and developing various assays to assess protein and viral vector quantity and quality, e.g. FACS. Western, Octet, qPCR etc. Understanding of chemical, biochemical and physical interactions of cell culture media and reagent components. Familiarity with molecular biology, e.g. vector design, gene editing methodologies. Familiarity with the use of Design of Experiments principles (JMP). Exposure to purification methods of proteins and viral vectors, e.g. affinity purification, SEC, IEX, etc.
Accredited Master's degree and 5-8 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with 1-3 years of experience.
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
