Chipton-Ross is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer II for an opening in Canoga Park, CA.
Working under minimal direction:
80% Perform structural modeling and analysis:
Assist other analysts and designers engaged with development and production of new and existing rocket engines, propulsion system components and secondary structure.
Perform structural analyses utilizing classic hand-calculation methods and finite element models.
Construct and solve static and dynamic finite element models with ANSYS.
Participate in test planning and execution. Correlate structural models to test results.
Interpret analytical results, assess design margins and prepare technical reports.
Develop and modify macros and programing to run and post process duty cycle loads Generate and provide analysis reports and presentation materials to analysis team and customers documenting FEM and analysis results. Good written and oral communication skills are required.
10% - Report status and results of analysis tasks at design and program reviews.
10% - Prepare technical reports documenting all analysis activities.
Skills: -Demonstrated experience performing linear, non-linear and structural dynamic analyses to support design, development and production qualification of new or updated products is required.
Proficiency using finite element analysis tools such as ANSYS is required.
-Knowledge and experience with aerospace product development efforts is desired.
-Must have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Power Point) is required.
BS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Mechanics. At least 2 years of engineering experience with structural analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Master's degree is preferred.
