Description
Chipton Ross is seeking a Chemist in King of Prussia, PA.

Job Summary:
Responsible for providing hands-on support in the construction and operation of reactors to conduct chemical synthesis of organic peroxides. Responsible for preparing and treating the reactants and reaction products, as well as conducting chemical and physical tests to assess purity, composition and reaction mass balance. Responsible for accurate recording of all process variables and results.

Responsibilities:
The major activities are:
-Configuring and assembling a reactor or other equipment capable of making or treating organic peroxides
-Carrying out reactions using hazardous chemicals based on SOPs
-Running routine analyses, including titrations, GC, HPLC, titrations etc.
-Recording and analyzing all experimental data
Context and Environment:
This position works closely with the Organic Peroxide R&D process team. Safety is critical in all aspects of this business. Position holder interacts with other scientists within R&D, Process Technology, and manufacturing personnel in North America. Position holder is directly responsible for his/her contributions and performance.
- Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
- Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
- Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents

Required Education/Qualifications /Work Experience:
In the absence of a degree, the successful candidate will have at least 2 years of chemistry laboratory, or pilot plant, or production operations experience. Alternatively, the successfully candidate will have a BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related field with coursework that includes labs and preferably a laboratory-based internship.

Demonstrated Competencies:
Ability to follow safety rules and operating procedures is a must. Experience in assembling, building and operating laboratory or pilot plant synthesis equipment is desired. Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate working within a team environment and to communicate results are required.

Education:
High School Diploma required

Schedule:
First shift, full time

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
