Description
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Construction Inspector for an opening in San Diego, CA.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor construction sites periodically to ensure overall compliance.
Use survey instruments, metering devices, and test equipment to perform inspections.
Inspect plumbing, electrical, and other systems to ensure that they meet code.
Verify alignment and level to ensure equipment installation meets specifications.
Issue violation notices and stop-work orders until building is compliant.
Keep daily logs, including photographs taken during inspections.
Provide written documentation of findings.
Review plans to ensure they meet codes, local ordinances, and contract specifications
Establish and maintain electronic files for submittals, select correspondence, supplemental instructions, sketches, Requests for Information (RFI), and Requests for Changes (RFC).
Check and verify all materials stored on and off site for payment as well as materials used in site construction against submittals and check and verify the installation of materials and equipment.
Inspect welded piping, threaded piping, grooved piping, equipment anchoring, grout framing and pouring, equipment alignment, electrical power construction, re-bar, concrete framing and pouring, painting, electrical controls, punch lists, dismantling/disassembly, demolition, utility locating, asphalt paving, asbestos and lead paint abatement, earth work (fill, porous fill, etc.), and safety of personnel during construction.
Present Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) requirements to contracted workers coming onsite, review plans for safety concerns, and monitor job site for safe practices.
Create punch lists and see-to correction of defective work.
Must be able to work extended hours and travel in California on occasion.
Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must demonstrate expertise of building and site design, construction, operation and maintenance as well detailed and extensive knowledge of design and construction methods and processes related to building construction and maintenance. Must have knowledge of codes, standards and regulations as they apply to design, construction, operations and maintenance of buildings and building sites. Must be able to organize, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads and staff to meet established milestones. Must be customer focused and possess: (1) a valid California driver's license with a good driving record verified by the DMV; (2) the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data; (3) good analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences including management and external parties; (4) strong interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees; (5) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; (6) the ability to select, train, and motivate personnel; (7) the ability to represent the company on external projects; and (8) strong computer skills. Must be able to work extended hours and travel as required

• Must be customer focused and possess: (1) the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data; (2) good analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences including management and external parties; (3) strong interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees; (4) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; (5) the ability to represent the company on external projects; and (6) strong computer skills.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, facilities management or a related discipline and nine or more years of progressive professional experience in construction or facilities management with at least three of those years in a management role.

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
