Chipton-Ross is seeking 5 Flight Control Systems Integration & Safety Engineers (Level 5) for a contract opportunity in Everett, WA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
o Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
o 7+ years of technical experience in an aerospace or similar regulated industry environment
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
o This requisition is seeking accomplished, self-motivated mid-career engineers to design, analyze, test and certify flight control systems and components for large commercial aircraft as well as to support the production and fleet operations of this equipment. This requisition is for multiple positions in multiple flight control disciplines performing many of the tasks listed below.
o Decomposes airplane level requirements into system level requirements and further decomposes system level requirements into component requirements
o Participates in and/or lead system, component and detail certification efforts, including: creation of required certification artifacts, such as, system safety analysis, failure modes and effects analysis, and fault tree analysis; confirming and demonstrating traceability to regulatory requirements; and resolution of regulation conflicts.
o Gathers, defines and documents system level requirements to support flight control and mission or trajectory requirements definition.
o Resolves requirement conflicts. Performs and documents analysis and design of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems to validate or assess the system design or models.
o Participates in and/or lead system level and component level validation analysis and testing, including: test monitoring; analysis and test report authoring; supplier test report review and approval; test failure analysis; and test failure mitigation.
o Supports initial production efforts including: timely resolution of first build problems at client and supplier manufacturing facilities; ensuring readiness for production start-up milestones, such as, power-on, system gauntlet, system functional test, ground test and first flight; analysis and resolution of rejections and ground/flight test squawks; and ground/flight test data review for design validation and certification compliance.
o Supports global fleet operations including: subject matter expert consultation for airline and regulator queries; participate in and lead resolution efforts to resolve Service-Related Problems (SRP); and analyze reported flight incidents to provide recommendations to the Safety Review Board (SRB) for Continued Operational Safety Program (COSP) determinations.
o Generally, these activities require successful cross-functional coordination within and outside of client including with:, avionics, pilot/crew operations, airplane safety, aerodynamics, BCA systems software, suppliers, airline customers, and regulatory agencies.
o Develops solutions and disposition of issues to assure customer satisfaction.
o Works under general direction.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
o 7+ or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
o Experience with System Safety Analysis including failure modes and effects analysis; fault tree analysis; common cause analysis, and single & multiple failure analysis
o Knowledge/Experience with ARP 4754 and ARP 4761
o Experience with flight controls system and component architecture
o Experience in requirements development, design, analysis, and verification & validation of flight control systems
o Experience using requirement management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS
o Experience with manufacturing regulated and certified, safety critical components and software
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
WORK HOURS
FULL TIME/FIRST SHIFT; 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
