Chipton-Ross is seeking a Design Engineer for a contract opportunity in Marietta, GA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Positive verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Successful candidate will work in a AMMM drawing and model centric engineering environment and should be proficient with PC operations & MS Office Suite.
- Detailed oriented with efficient planning/organizational skills.
- 5+ years of previous aerospace mechanical structures design experience.
- 5+ years of ASME experience.
- 5+ years of Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Prior experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Prior experience incorporating Engineering Change Notice (ECN) into drawings.
- Must have the ability to work in a fast paced team environment where critical schedules needs are common and must be met with quality results.
- Must be proficient in typical PC operations and broad communication skills.
- Must be a US Citizen or legally authorized to work in US as a permanent resident. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs major components, or major portions of a functional system, or technically advanced prototype, promotional or specific products. Develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers. Engineer to perform verification of completeness of engineering technical data related to AMMM (C130, C5, P3) build-to-packages (BTPs). Will evaluate the accuracy and releasability of AMMM engineering data, as it relates to LM PM-4052 and AMMM Program Design Standards. The position requires a working knowledge of general drafting practices and the ability to interpret engineering technical drawings, computer models and engineering bill of materials. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) along with knowledge of ASME practices a plus. Performance expectations are to support engineering schedule release commitments, while assuring that AMMM BTPs are accurate, complete, are of one interpretation and adequate for downstream users. The engineer is required to support a surge of AMMM engineering Build-to-Packages related to NOAA & C130 upgrades.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- 3D CAD design experience a plus.
- PhotoShop experience also a plus.
- Familiarity with AMMM (C130, C5, P3) aircraft, experience with CATIA computer-aided design system, along with AMMM engineering toolsets and processes a plus.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Accredited Bachelor's Degree.
WORK HOURS:
- Full-Time-4/10
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
