Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple Designer 1's for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
Associate's Degree and 0 years of experience. 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associate's degree.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will support design initiatives for Virginia Class model file conversions. The candidate will convert 3D models into the Seimens NX application including setting up construction views. All trade disciplines will be involved in this effort. Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM, NX, or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments. No PPE Required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
o AAS Degree in Drafting and Design or Engineering Technology. o Siemens NX and/or Inventor modeling experience. o Experience in manufacturing/installation drawing creation. o Trade experience using 3D work instructions in areas such as: Structure, Electrical, Piping, Mechanical, Ventilation, Sheetmetal. o Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. o Effective communication skills with both internal and external of the value stream.REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Associates Degree is required. Equivalency: 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associate's degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associate's degree. School must be accredited.WORK HOURS:
5/40 workweek. 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
